Phillip has been making hand turned ink pens from acrylic and wood for several years. I always thought it was way too complicated for me but he has been patiently teaching me the art of pen turning and I am really enjoying spending time with him while we make these unique pens. We have started mixing our own acrylic blanks. This has taken our pen making to a whole new level. I think our blanks have turned into some absolutely beautiful creations.
He has always wanted to keep his little business local but with a little urging from me, he has finally started sharing these beautiful pieces of art with the world! I am so excited to show them to you!
Each pen is handcrafted and hand turned. Because of this, no two are alike! The acrylic pens are hand mixed and poured. No mass production here! We choose each blank carefully when we make our wooden pens so they have the most unique grains. Then both the acrylic and the woods are individually turned on a lathe. They are sanded and polished until they shine like glass. After that, the hardware is added and the one of a kind pen is complete.
We are always amazed by what we are able to create. Here are a couple of videos that you may find entertaining.
Bethlehem Olive Wood Hand Turned Ink Pens
This one is of Phillip turning a piece of Bethlehem Olive Wood. These blanks are imported from Bethlehem. They come with a certificate of authentication stating they are cuttings from olive trees that have been around for thousands of years.

Flip Cup Pour
This is one of our acrylic pours in a slimline pen mold. It is so cool watching the way the colors move and swirl and the acrylic heats up.
This is a Slimline Pen mold. These two colors are mixed in the resin, then poured together into the mold. This is the beginning of a pen. Just one of the many steps to get to be a fine writing instrument that will get many compliments.
