While so many NFL players and entertainers did not stand for the flag this weekend I was welcoming home my son from his second deployment. While those people who make literally millions of dollars just to entertain us, my son, risked everything to protect their rights while barely making enough to support him and his wife.
When you stand for the flag you are showing your respect for the men and women who fight for your country. When you decide to use the American Flag as your platform to protest you are disrespecting the very people who gave you that right.
I am so proud of my son and my son-in-law for being the type of people who want to help keep our country safe. They have to leave their families for months at a time. They put their own lives in harm’s way to protect your rights and your freedom. To have people completely disrespect the symbol of the country they are giving everything for is literally a slap in the face.
It’s Your Right To Not Stand For The Flag
But it is also my right to completely dismiss you out of my life. I refuse to continue to put money in the pockets of those who show such disrespect. If you can’t manage to stand for our country’s flag then I will not sit for your game, song, comedy routine, movie, TV show or whatever else you do that you think is so important.
I don’t know why you think that I care what you think anyway. You are paid to entertain us. I know that sounds harsh but it is real. When I watch you I do not think about how smart you are or how much I admire you, all I want from you is entertainment.
I for one will not support your growing need to try to make others feel as you do. You and your lavish lifestyle have no concept of what real America is all about. You sit behind your iron gates in your perfectly decorated mansions wearing your designer clothes and try to say you know what it is like to be judged. No, you don’t. You have no idea what the average American feels. You have lost touch with reality.
The average American gets up every morning and goes to work to feed their families and keep a roof over their heads. They thank God they are in a country that allows them the freedom to do that. They are not concerned with protesting because they have real jobs that they can’t just not show up for.
The reality is that the average American just wants to make a better life for their families. What better place to do that than right here in America, the home of the free because of the brave, because of the people you disrespect when you refuse to stand for our flag.
So you want reality, let me give you some. I will no longer spend one dime of my hard earned money to support anyone who involves themselves in this practice of refusing to stand for the flag. It doesn’t matter to me who you are or how much I enjoy your entertainment. I can very easily change channels because entertainers are a dime a dozen.
What Really Matters
Real life is what really matters to me. Seeing my son after 7 months of deployment just can’t be described in words. The look on his precious wife’s face, the pride in his sister’s eyes, the relief that his father and I felt when we finally held him in our arms. That is what matters.
I have to post a few pictures here to give you a glimpse into how we military families survive deployment. We look forward to this one particular day. Homecoming.
I am sorry if I have offended anyone with this post but if you know this chick at all then you know how I feel. It is not my intention to offend anyone but to get my point across. If you want to protest than by all means protest but using the symbol of the people who gave you that right is just plain wrong.
